How hiring on JobKonar works
From finding an artisan to paying them, every step is in the app, and your money is protected until the work is done.

1. Find someone you trust
Search by trade and city. Look for the Ghana Card badge on a profile: it means the artisan passed biometric verification. We are rolling this check out, so newer artisans may not have it yet. Ratings come only from clients who booked and finished a real job through the app, and they show scores for quality of work, communication, punctuality and professionalism.
2. Book a day and time
Choose a service with a fixed price, or ask for a quote if the job needs a look first. Say where the job is. Your address stays hidden from the artisan until you have paid.
3. Agree the price
Nothing is charged yet. Chat with the artisan inside the app, and if you want a different price, suggest one. The artisan can accept it or reply with their own price, and you can go back and forth until you both agree. Only then do you pay. You can also post an open job and let artisans send you bids, then chat with each one before you choose.
4. Pay to confirm the booking
You pay the artisan's price plus a 5% JobKonar service fee, by mobile money, Visa or Mastercard. Clients outside Ghana can sign up with their own number and pay by card. We hold the money. The artisan sees that it is secured and can come to you with confidence.
5. Track the job
The artisan taps “On my way” when they set off, then “Start” and “Complete” as they work. You and the artisan chat inside the app and can share up to two photos per message, so neither of you has to share a phone number.
6. Confirm and review
When the job is done, confirm it. Only then is the artisan paid. If you do not respond, the job is confirmed automatically 24 hours after the artisan marks it complete. You can then rate the artisan on each part of the job and leave a comment, and add a private note that only JobKonar sees. To keep reviews fair, a review shows on the artisan's profile once the artisan has rated you too, or after 14 days. The artisan can reply to it in public.
Big jobs: pay in milestones
For a bigger job, the price can be split into milestones, for example a deposit for materials and the rest when the work is finished. Each milestone has its own amount and deadline. You pay one milestone at a time, and each is held until you confirm that part of the work. The artisan is paid for each milestone as you confirm it. If a milestone is not confirmed, it is released to the artisan automatically after 3 days.
Plans can change. Either of you can suggest an extra payment, a new amount for a milestone that is not paid yet, or a new deadline, even after work has started. A change only counts when the other person agrees. When you type a price, you see exactly what the JobKonar fee comes to, so you can plan around it.
Need it today?
Tick “I need this today” when you book or post a job. The artisan is texted straight away and has 3 hours to reply. Save artisans you like, and use “Book again” for next time. After you pay, you can open and print a receipt from the job.
If you need to cancel
Cancel up to 12 hours before the job starts and you get back the price and the JobKonar fee. Need a different day? Tap “Change the date” on the job and suggest one. The date only changes when the other person agrees, and your payment stays held. The payment processing charge is not refunded.
Our commission: what JobKonar costs
No sign-up fee and no monthly fee. We only earn a small commission, a percentage, when a job is booked and paid.
If you are hiring
5%
A 5% commission (service fee) is added on top of the artisan's price. You see the full total before you pay.
Example: a job priced GH₵150 + 5% fee (GH₵7.50) = you pay GH₵157.50.
If you are an artisan
8%
We keep an 8% commission from your price (5% on the Pro plan). You see exactly what you will earn before you accept a request.
Example: a job priced GH₵150 − 8% (GH₵12) = you receive GH₵138 in your mobile money.
A small mobile money transfer charge is taken from each artisan payout.
